If a crewmate catches you vent, immediately call a sabotage. It will cause their AI's current action to move from running to call you out to fixing the sabotage. Because there is no remembrance other than the initial moment, the crewmate will forget you vented! Also, crewmate mode would be neat, but not necessary. I just enjoy being able to really test myself, as free play mode doesn't offer the actual game you have to win.
